Erin Cagney first served as an Assistant Lab Manager with the Veterans Curation Program in the Alexandria Lab and is now an Archaeologist in the Virginia office. She received her B.A. in Anthropology from the University of Tennessee and her M.A. in Public Anthropology in Washington, D.C. She has researched, conducted, and supervised archaeological investigations in the Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, Midwest, and California on behalf of multiple federal, state, and private clients such as the National Park Service, FEMA, General Services Administration, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Navy, and others. This work has included a broad range of cultural resource management including monitoring at the White House, metal detecting Gettysburg and Manassas National Battlefields, and directing Phase I and II investigations on urban sites. She has authored or co-authored over a dozen technical reports. Her research interests lie in pre-contact period archaeology in the Mid-Atlantic and the Southeast, and she has been awarded grants from the Virginia Department of Historic Resources toward the rehabilitation of pre-contact collections from coastal Virginia. Erin currently serves as a Co-Chair of the Social Justice in Archaeology Task Force for the Society of American Archaeology, is the Secretary of the Board for Friends of Fairfax Archaeology and is a member of the Council of Virginia Archaeologists. Erin currently lives in Arlington with her husband, two cats, and two dogs.
