Biography

Kelly Brown, MLIS has worked as the Digital Archivist for New South Associates since November 2024. More specifically, she works with the Veterans Affairs History Office (VAHO) to capture, preserve, and make accessible VA History in electronic formats. Prior to joining New South in this role, she served as the Digital Collections and Metadata Specialist for the University of Montana, Archives and Special Collections in Missoula, Montana. Before relocating to Missoula, Kelly worked with New South from 2015 to 2023. From 2021-2023, Kelly was the Director of the Savannah River Site Museum in Aiken, South Carolina. From 2015-2021, Kelly worked at the Augusta, Georgia, Veterans Curation Program as the Archives Lab Manager. She has a special interest in using metadata, controlled vocabulary, and standardized descriptions to make collections more discoverable via the internet and linked data.
