Wm. Matthew Tankersley has been with New South Associates since 2001 and serves the company as an Archaeologist and a GIS Specialist. In his capacity as Archaeologist, Mr. Tankersley conducts background research and field projects; manages crews; coordinates with Principal Investigators; and authors reports. As a GIS Specialist, he is responsible for mapping and modeling of cultural resources. Mr. Tankersley received his B.S. in Anthropology from the College of Charleston in 1998 and his M.A. in Historic Preservation from Georgia State University in 2008. Focusing his specialties on historic period archaeology, GIS, and historic architecture, he has more recently used his combine expertise on the Historic Streetcar Systems in Georgia context. Over the course of his career, Mr. Tankersley has conducted archaeological studies in the El Yunque National Forest in Puerto Rico; in Plaquemines Parish in Louisiana; and at Fort Heiman in Kentucky, as well as contributing to the fieldwork and subsequent report for the Charleston County Judicial Center Site in South Carolina.
