Jacob Petrie (B.A. in History, University of Massachusetts) currently serves as a Laboratory Manager in the Alexandria VCP and is responsible for archives rehabilitation. Jacob is completing his M.A. in Museum Studies with a concentration in Collections Management at George Washington University (GWU). Jacob enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2002 and served as an infantryman aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and was deployed to Iraq, Honduras, and Chile. After graduating from the Veterans Curation Program in 2013, Jacob worked as an instructional designer on a contract for the Federal Aviation Administration, developing instructional material for air traffic controllers, before he was accepted to the Museum Studies Program at GWU. Jacob has interned at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History with the Armed Services History Division and wrote for the Museum’s website on the experience of working with material from another veteran. He has a passion for military history and looks forward to helping other veterans achieve success through the VCP.
