Erika Carpenter has been with New South Associates since 2016. Ms. Carpenter currently serves New South as a GIS Specialist. She has also served New South as a field director and lab analyst. She received both her B.A. and M.A. in Anthropology from the University of Mississippi, as well as her M.A.S. in Geospatial Information Technologies from Delta State University. Her professional interests include Mississippian mound sites, historic maps, the incorporation of GIS into historic preservation, the impact of climate change on site preservation, and writing Python scripts. She is experienced in all phases of fieldwork and has worked in Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Louisiana, Florida, Virginia, and the Negev in Israel.
