Megan McPherson joined New South in 2024 as an Architectural Historian. Megan received her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology in 2020 from the University of Georgia and completed her Master of Historic Preservation (MHP) in 2022. During her two years in graduate school, she worked as an Architectural Field Surveyor at the FindIt Program under the CED’s Center for Community Design and Preservation. Megan also worked as the Cultural Landscapes Intern for Redwood National Park through the National Council on Preservation Education (NCPE). During her final year of graduate school, she served as the President of UGA’s Student Historic Preservation Organization. Megan’s MHP thesis explored the developmental history and analyzed the cultural landscape of Georgia’s first segregated state park, George Washington Carver Park. She is interested in historic architecture, cultural landscapes, building materials, and park histories. Megan currently serves on the board of the Athens Historical Society.
