Lori has served New South in various capacities since 2020, first as a contract Field Technician, and in 2021 as Laboratory Analyst and Field Technician where she assisted in the collection, analysis, cataloging, conservation and curation of artifacts and documents recovered during New South field investigations. In her current role as Logistics Coordinator, she is responsible for provisioning archaeological projects with contracted field staff and managing field crew accommodations and reservations. This role includes new hire recruitment and relationship management with staff from all of New South’s locations. Prior to receiving her Associate’s degree in Anthropology from Georgia State University, Ms. Umberg spent over 25years managing creative agencies in Atlanta. She has successfully completed Archaeological Curation field school at the Center for Archaeological Investigations in southern Illinois, and is trained in various GIS, 3D modeling, and 3D mesh processing softwares. She is a certified FAA UAV pilot, and is certified in GlobalMapper GIS systems.
