Emma Mason serves New South Associates as a GIS Analyst. She joined the New South archaeology department in 2020 as the Archaeology Start-Up Coordinator. She holds a B.A. in Journalism and a M.A. in Anthropology/Archaeology from Georgia State University.  During her M.A., Emma partnered with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians Tribal Historic Preservation Office to create a GIS database of the Qualla Boundary. Prior to joining New South, Emma was employed as an environmental review archaeologist with the Georgia State Historic Preservation Office where she conducted Section 106 review of archaeological reports and participated in consultation for state and federal programmatic agreements for archaeological resources. Emma’s role as GIS Analyst involves geospatial data creation, organization, analysis, and management, and generating report map deliverables for clients.
